Romulus & Remus and How Rome Began

Rhea was married to the Roman god of war, Mars. Rhea was the mother of twin sons. She adored her sons, but other gods and goddesses were plotting to kill her father, herself, her husband, and her children.

Rhea abandoned her sons on the river to safeguard them, thinking someone would find them. Who wouldn't love such adorable boys?

They were discovered initially by a she-wolf, who fed them. The boys were then adopted by a shepherd and his wife.

As they grew older, the twins decided they did not want to care for sheep. They desired to rule as kings. They chose to establish a city on the Tiber's banks. They both desired to be the sole ruler. They got into a fight. In a flash of rage, Romulus killed his brother with a rock and proclaimed himself king.

That is how Rome began.
